My first blog post
While trying to figure out what I wanted to write about, everyone I spoke to told me to just write about myself; “let people know who you are,” they would say. Well, anyone that knows me knows that I have never claimed to be a writer. However, one thing I do love is country living!
So, you might be asking yourself what this blog will be about; what is there to gain from reading each post I put up? In short, I want to discuss living, learning, and loving this way of life. Let me start by telling you a little about how I’ve come to love this country life. Come, follow me down this adventurous road to a time where life was much simpler.
My fondest memories are of galloping through the fields on my Grandfather’s farm, feeling the wind blowing through my hair; the oneness with my horse. Even now, some of the greatest times in my life are when I’m strolling through a cabin built in the 1800’s, wondering what the homestead looked like in its hay day; who the people were that called this place home and how they lived in such a simple time.
I often look back to those times in my childhood when I would have the privilege to sit at the feet of my mother and grandmother, learning the skills it took to naturally preserve food and how to use what we had around to cure whatever ailed us. Still, to this day, I find myself using those old remedies. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right?
I guess what I am trying to say is that my main goal in writing this blog is to remember, share, and even pass down what has been such an important aspect of my life and what has made me in to who I am today. In upcoming posts, I will be writing about those priceless skills I learned in my childhood and many more adventures. I hope you will enjoy reminiscing with me and learn to love this Simple Country Life. Come and travel along with me….who knows where we might end up.
